Every caregiver starts with a willingness to learn.
In 2024, Mater Angelo’s Caregiver Training program brought together 50 aspiring caregivers for a comprehensive course in compassionate care. In a country where geriatric care education is scarce, our program offers workshops in first aid, patient communication, and daily living support. This aligns with national priorities:
Nigeria’s Senior Citizens Centre emphasizes caregiver training to address the shortage of skilled professionals. By equipping youth and volunteers with practical skills, we build a stronger safety net for elders and vulnerable people alike.
One graduate,
Chiamaka (24), found new purpose through our program. “
I learned how to bathe and comfort my sick uncle safely,” she recalls. After training, she started a local homecare service, proudly helping seniors in her neighborhood. Her story shows how knowledge gives confidence and how a single training session can change lives.
Our 2024 workshops trained 300 participants (a 20% increase over last year) and certified 25 community health aides. Alumni are now volunteering in hospitals and care homes across Enugu State. You can be part of this mission: volunteer as a mentor, donate to expand our training courses, or subscribe to our newsletter for upcoming classes. Together we empower Nigeria’s caregivers with the skills and compassion needed to make a real difference.
